Wedding Agenda
Dutch and Turkish wedding traditions are pretty much worlds apart, so we’ve decided to mash them together. We’re picking our favorite bits from both cultures to create a day that feels like "us." Check out the schedule below to see what we have planned!
Agenda
13:00 - 14:00 - Shuttle pick up
We’re getting married at a semi-open venue tucked right between the Marmara Sea and Küçükçekmece Lake. It’s a bit outside the hustle and bustle of central Istanbul. To make things easy, we’re organizing shuttles to take you from the city center to the venue and back again at the end of the night. We will communicate the pick up location via the whatsapp chat.
14:30 - 15:00 - Arriving at the venue
In Turkish tradition, the families of the couple welcome every guest individually at the door. When you arrive, our families will be there to greet you and venue's hostesses will help you find your seats. Grab a drink, take some photos, and enjoy the atmosphere while we get ready to start!
15:30 - 16:15 - Ceremony
Our ceremony is being officiated by one of our dearest friends, which means the world to us. For this part of the day, we’ll be following Dutch traditions, including the exchange of our vows and rings.
16:15 - 17:30 - Welcoming the guests
After the ceremony, we’ll be making our way around to every table to say hello properly. In Turkish tradition, sometimes the couple stands in one spot while guests line up, but we’d rather come to you! We’ll stop by for a quick chat and a photo. If you’ve brought a gift, feel free to hand it to us then or just pop it in the gift box. Please don’t feel like you have to stay glued to your seat while we’re moving around, feel free to grab a drink and mingle!
17:00 - 18:30 - Dinner
While we’re visiting tables, dinner will be served. There will be two options for the meal. We’ll send out a quick survey two months before the wedding so you can let us know which one you’d prefer.
17:45 - 18:30 - Speeches
To honor Dutch tradition, our family will be sharing some speeches during dinner. Because we’re on a bit of a tight schedule, we won’t have an open-mic session during the wedding itself.
18:30 - 18:40 - First dance
We’ll kick things off with our first dance. We’re hoping our skills are good enough to keep you entertained.
18:40 - 20:30 - Main party
Then it’s time to hit the dance floor. The first half of the night will be a mix of AIESEC dances and classic Turkish wedding dances. Fair warning: you’ll definitely be pulled onto the dance floor for the Turkish songs, so please just go with the flow and enjoy the moment! One small request: please don’t bring any glasses onto the dance floor so we can avoid any broken glass or spills.
20:30 - 20:45 - Bouquet throwing & break
We’ll pause the music for a moment to throw the bouquet and say our first round of goodbyes. If you need to leave at this point, we’ll have shuttles ready and waiting to take you back.
20:45 - 23:30 - After party
The second half of the night is all about the international hits and high energy. We’ll have snacks coming out around 21:00 to keep us all going.
23:30 - 00:00 - Shuttle drop off
Unfortunately, we have to pull the plug on the music at 23:30 due to local laws. Once the party wraps up, we’ll say our goodbyes and everyone can head to the shuttles for the ride back to the city center.
